Establishing lifelong healthy eating

habits from the very beginning

- The ChampionGoldTM Standard

Nutrition Program

Developing positive eating habits in the early years is a responsibility we take very seriously at MindChamps. Which is why we’ve invested heavily in creating the MindChamps ChampionGoldTM Standard Nutrition Programme which has been hailed as a Food Revolution for Early Learners by Australian media.

This programme has been developed by the MindChamps Nutrition team led by our Chief Nutrition Officer Mandy Sacher, Australia's leading paediatric Nutritionist and bestselling author.

Our philosophy is simple - teach children’s taste buds to enjoy nourishing, nutritionally beneficial foods as early as possible to ensure optimal development and the establishment of lifelong healthy eating behaviours.

“Our MindChamps children eat more with us than they do

at home, therefore the right nutrition for their growth and development is of paramount importance.

This is a responsibility we take very seriously at MindChamps”

The MindChamps ChampionGoldTM Standard Nutrition Programme is based upon a wholefoods philosophy.

Our meal ingredient list has a strong focus on nourishing ingredients including wholegrains, grass-fed meat, free-range organic chicken, low-mercury fish and natural dairy products. We also include a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables to ensure children’s nutritional needs are fulfilled in all our centres and their growing bodies have what they need to thrive.

Morning healthy nutrition

Did you know?

Number 1

It's common for children to eat with us at MindChamps more often than they eat with their families during the week. Therefore, we offer a wholefood meal plan, which offers between 75-100% of your child’s daily required nutrients.

All of our recipes and meal plans are carefully designed to ensure children receive all the nutrients they require for optimal growth and development. These key target nutrients include iron, calcium, omega-3’s, vitamin A, fibre and more.

Number 3

Our meal plans are designed using specific textures, flavours and ingredients to encourage even the fussiest of eaters to participate in mealtimes

Number 4

Our meal plans are 100% free from refined sugars

Number 5

Our meal plans are low in sodium and free from added salt

Number 6

Only 1 in 16 Australian children eat the recommended servings of vegetables. Therefore, we offer vegetables 4-5 times daily and actively work with children to increase vegetable variety and acceptance.

Number 7

Our Chief Nutrition Officer, Mandy Sacher, has created a bespoke MindChamps wholefood shopping list to ensure our cooks use the best possible ingredients to feed the children in our centres.

Number 8

We offer specialised allergy meals and vegetarian meal plans for children who require them. We take as much care in creating these specialised meal plans as our general meal plans. Each meal plan is carefully crafted to ensure children with special dietary needs receive a complete spectrum of

minerals and vitamins.

Number 9

We are leading the way by offering a complete introducing solids programme for babies in our care. This includes specialised meal plans for babies aged 4-6 months, 6-8 months and 8+ months.

Number 10

Our focus is not limited to nutrition. We also offer a complete nutrition behaviour and education programme, which includes training our cooks, educators, centre directors and families on how to instill a happy and healthy relationship towards food in young children.

Number 11

Our educators are trained to deal with fussy eating and food refusal

Breakfast

  • At MindChamps, we provide nutritious wholefood breakfasts that fuel children’s brains with the nutrients they require to thrive throughout the day.

  • Our breakfasts are free from refined sugars, food additives and flavourings. They’re low in salt and full of fibre.

  • All our breakfasts contain protein and are loaded with wholegrains and fibre, which help sustain blood sugar levels to ensure optimal energy levels and concentration in young children.

  • Our breakfasts offer a complete nutrition profile and include the following: eggs, wholegrain and sourdough bread with homemade spreads and dips, porridge, overnight oats, chia pudding, and homemade breakfast cereals such as granola and chocolate superfood pops.

Morning Tea

  • Young children require 3 meals and 2 snacks per day for optimal growth and development. Morning tea provides an opportunity to refuel and ensure blood sugar levels are stable.

  • In other early learning centres, children are typically offered refined salty crackers and cheese for morning tea or sugary snacks such as raisin toast, banana bread or crumpets with honey.

  • At MindChamps, our Nutrition team has developed all our morning tea mealtime snacks to meet the highest nutrition standards. Every snack contains 100% wholefood ingredients, providing the optimal nutrients for young children.

  • Our morning teas have been crafted to ensure they provide a full spectrum of nutrients, focusing on calcium to support healthy bones and teeth.

  • Our morning tea consists of natural probiotic-rich yoghurt, smoothies, bircher muesli or chia puddings. Fresh seasonal fruit and vegetable platters are also offered daily with a homemade dip.

Lunch

  • Lunches are an opportunity for children to engage in a family-style mealtime, build social and fine motor skills and learn about foods from various cultures.

  • At MindChamps, our lunches consist of four main components; a protein such as meat, chicken, fish, legumes or tofu to support growth and iron requirements, a slow-release wholegrain carbohydrate to support sustained energy, vegetables to provide essential fibre and vitamins and minerals, and healthy fats to support brain health.

  • Our lunches are also low in added salt and avoid the typical pre-made sauces that are full of added salt, sugar and additives.

  • All our lunches have been crafted to ensure they provide a full spectrum of nutrients, including protein, fibre, iron, and omega-3 fatty acids.

Afternoon Tea

  • Iron is an essential nutrient for brain development and new blood and muscle cell development.

  • Children have high iron requirements because they are constantly growing and require iron-rich foods regularly.

  • Our afternoon tea menu has been specifically designed to include snacks, which offer a good source of iron from wholefoods, such as wholemeal spelt flour and pumpkin seeds.

  • In other early learning centres, children are typically offered refined salty or sugary snacks such as vegemite toast, cakes or biscuits for afternoon tea.

  • Our afternoon snacks are always low in added salt and sugar and consist of savoury snacks - such as baked beans or vegetable muffins made with wholemeal flour. Our sweet snacks, which are free from refined sugars, include bliss balls, homemade muesli bars or fruit crumbles.

  • Fresh vegetable platters are also offered daily alongside their afternoon snacks.

Blueberry muffins

Late Snack

  • Late snacks provide an opportunity for children to refuel and stabilise blood sugar levels, so they don’t go home ‘hangry’!

  • Our late snacks always includs fresh seasonal fruit and vegetable platters with wholegrain crackers, homemade gummies and a daily homemade dip.
